Does your child need help learning how to put together a book report? How about extra practice before a big English assignment? If so, then A Mini Book Report might be an app worth trying. It walks your child through the creation of a book report by breaking it down into key sections. The Name section is where they will enter in their report title, name, the name of the book and the book’s author. Characters gives them a place to write about the main characters in the book. The Setting section addresses the when and where of the story. Next is the page where they will address and discuss the book’s main problem. After that they can describe the solution on another screen. Finally, they’ll have the opportunity to write down their personal thoughts on the book. When they’ve finished working with all the screens they can preview their report. For the preview the app takes the six different screens and shrinks them so they’ll all appear side by side on the iPad screen. Finished reports can be saved and then shared with others through email.Read Across America Weekly Homework and Mini Book Report This is a packet of 3 assignments for homework. The keyboard pulled up and then the navigation buttons at the top of the screen would shift up and disappear. I was unable to tap on several buttons after they moved out of sight and it made navigating through the app a little bit tricky. Hopefully this can be addressed in a future update. Overall, A Mini Book Report provides good practice with the process of taking a book and breaking it down. It’s straightforward, without frills and gets the job done.
